HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY
“Hyper” means an increase in the quantity of something; “baric” means pressure. The Hyperbaric chamber can be any number of enclosures, which can be pressurized to allow the person inside to experience higher than atmospheric pressures and allows great absorption of oxygen. Using pure oxygen under increased pressure enhances the body’s ability to heal.
During the treatment the patient breathes 100% oxygen under increased pressure. The concentration of pure oxygen dissolved into the bloodstream is dramatically increased (up to 2,000%), with virtually no energy expenditure. The air we breathe normally contains only 19-21% of oxygen. In addition to the blood, all body fluids-including the lymph and cerebrospinal fluids are infused with the healing benefits of this molecular oxygen. This oxygen can then reach bone and tissue, which are inaccessible to red blood cells. It enhances white blood cell function, and promotes the formation of new capillary and peripheral blood vessels. The result is increased infection control and faster healing of a wide range of conditions such as those listed below.
The following conditions are documented as having benefited from the Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment:
